Caller ID/Call Waiting

How it works:

You can use your telephone without missing a call. A special tone alerts you to a waiting call. The person calling you hears a normal ring. With your Caller ID/Call Waiting display you can see who the second caller is and decide which call to take.

How to use Caller ID/Call Waiting:

When you’re on the phone, a special tone tells-you a second call is waiting.

Look at your Caller ID/Call Waiting display to see who the new caller is. Decide whether to stay on the line with the original caller or answer the incoming call.

To accept the incoming call:

Simply press and quickly release the “switchhook” on your telephone. Your first caller is automatically placed on hold, while you’re connected with the second caller

To alternate between callers:

Simply press and quickly release the “switchhook” While you talk with one caller, the other will automatically be placed on hold. Each conversation remains private.

To end either call:

Hang
up.

Your phone will ring.

To turn off Call Waiting:
Before a Call:	During a Call:
1. Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.	1. Press and release the “switchhook.”
2. Press *70 (On a rotary phone, dial 1170.)	2. Press *70 (On a rotary phone, dial 1170.)
3. Listen for the confirmation tone.	3. Listen for the conformation tone. You’ll automatically be reconnected to your call.
4. Dial the number you wish to call. Now your call, will not be interrupted by the Call Waiting tone. Other callers will hear a busy signal.	4. After you hang up, Call Waiting automatically “turns on” again.
5. After you hang-up, Call Waiting automatically “turns on” again.

Note:
You must have three-way calling to turn off Call Waiting during a call.
The “switchhook” is the button the handset pushes down when you hang up the phone. Some phones have a Link or Flash key you can push instead.

Caller ID/Call Waiting service requires a Caller ID/Call Waiting display telephone or a stand alone Caller ID display unit. Both are available from KPU Telecommunications.

For Caller ID information to be delivered to you the caller must not have blocked Caller ID information prior to the call. For Caller ID information to be delivered from long distance calls, all long distance carriers must support the relay of Caller ID information and the caller's telephone company must offer Caller ID service.
