Eight years ago, this Museum mounted an exhibit of Ketchikan artworks borrowed from local collectors. The show was called Off the Wall, and it was a resounding success.
We’re doing it all over again, but with an entirely new room-full of art. Displayed here are sixty-nine artworks by fifty-six artists, borrowed from thirty collectors. Every piece was created by an artist who lives, or has lived, in Ketchikan.
As we interviewed the artists and collectors represented in this show, we were once again impressed by the bond that exists between the artists, their artworks, and those who acquire the art - and the importance, for collectors, of having art in their surroundings and their daily lives.
Ketchikan is a place where art and artists flourish. This exhibit reminds us why.
