Manager/KPU General Manager
Karl Amylon
Employment
Experience: Karl Amylon assumed the position
of Ketchikan's chief administrative officer in April
of 1995 after having served as City Manager of Watertown,
New York for eleven plus years. He brings to the
job a basic philosophy of customer satisfaction
and an ongoing goal of effective and efficient service
delivery. While initially having to orient himself
to the dynamics of Southeast Alaska, Mr. Amylon

to offering high quality service. Mr. Amylon stresses
that residents of the community should be able to
expect quality services and facilities from their
local government. In addition to his position of
City Manager, Mr. Amylon was subsequently appointed
by the City Council to oversee Ketchikan Public
Utilities in April of 1999.
Education: Mr. Amylon is a 1977
graduate of Bucknell University receiving a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Political Science. He earned a
Master of Public Administration Degree from Syracuse
University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public

Interests/Hobbies: Mr. Amylon
holds memberships in the International City/County
Management Association, the Alaska Municipal League,
Southeast Conference, and the Ketchikan Legislative
Liaison. He is married, has one son and thoroughly enjoys the cultural and recreational opportunities that Southeast Alaska offers.
