Health and Safety Policy |
The City of Ketchikan is determined to do everything
within its power to eliminate losses from accidents.
It is the policy of the City of Ketchikan to comply
with applicable safety and health laws, regulations,
and ordinances. This commitment to compliance is
a top priority to be reflected in all aspects of
the City’s activities. As an important part
of its commitment to compliance, the City will maximize
its efforts to:
- Eliminate or minimize exposure of employees
and the general
public to dangerous materials from the operations
of the City.
- Work collaboratively with public and private
health and safety
agencies and organizations to resolve health and
safety issues.
- Increase operational reliability through a
system of internal
compliance, surveillance, and monitoring.
- Foster management support, both through the
commitment of City
resources and the employment of highly skilled
professionals.
- Exercise continuing efforts to obtain the best
available
technologies for managing health and safety in
the work
environment.
- Encourage and support communication regarding
health and
safety issues between employees and management
on all levels.
