Mission:
The Finance's Director Office and General Accounting
is committed to providing accurate, timely and reliable
accounting, budgeting and financial services to
all departments of General City Government and Ketchikan
Public Utilities. General Accounting's mission is
to ensure that the quality of these services meets
or exceeds the highest professional standards, the
level of these services meets the needs of all departments
of General City Government and Ketchikan Public
Utilities, and the delivery of these services reflects
positively on the City of Ketchikan.
Services:
The Division's services include accounting, budgeting,
cash management, debt service management, financial
forecasting, financial reporting, grants administration
and risk management. The City prepares a budget
on a calendar-year basis. The budget must be adopted
three (3) days prior to the beginning of the new
budget year. A public hearing is required before
the budget can be adopted or amended.

Program
The City is required to undergo an annual audit,
which must be completed by April 30 of the subsequent
year. The City's financial position and activity,
and the auditors report are included in the City's
comprehensive annual financial report.
