Parking
The Parking Enforcement Division of the Police
Department is responsible for providing fair and
equitable enforcement of the portions of the Ketchikan
Municipal Code and state law, when applicable, that
regulate parking within the City. Those areas of
enforcement include overtime violations, illegal
parking, abandoned vehicles, and other violations
of the parking laws.

Parking Citation Appeals: If you
desire to contest a parking citation you must submit
a written appeal to the Ketchikan Police Department,
361 Main Street, Ketchikan, Alaska 99901 within
ten (10) days from the date of the citation. Your
appeal must be signed and include your name and
address, ticket number, vehicle's description, the
reasons for your appeal, any evidence you wish to
have considered, and a statement as to whether you
request a hearing. If you do not request a hearing,
your right to a hearing will be waived and a hearing
officer will determine the appeal based on your
written statement, the issuing officer's statements,
the statement of any witnesses, and the hearing
officer's own observations. If you timely request
a hearing you will be offered a formal hearing before
an administrative hearing officer with the right
to be represented by counsel at your expense, to
confront and question witnesses, to testify and
to subpoena witnesses.

Parking Citation Payments: Make
payment in person or by mail to City Finance Department,
334 Front Street, Ketchikan, Alaska 99901. Do not
send cash. Please write your citation number on
your check or money order. Timely payment will resolve
the violation and will waive all rights you have
to appeal or contest it. Failure to pay or appeal
said citation within ten (10) days from the date
of issue will deem you to have admitted to the violation
and to have waived all rights to appeal or contest
the ticket. Payment will be immediately due and
must be received within thirty (30) days to avoid
an additional fee of $15. Unpaid tickets will be
referred for collection, which may increase your
costs. Two (2) or more unpaid tickets may also result
in the removal and impoundment of the vehicle at
the owner's expense.
